Educating Driven Students for Over 20 Years

For more than two decades, WCUI has been educating students with the knowledge they need to become successful working professionals. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Neville Smith, M.D., a board-certified radiologist, and Myra Chason, BS, BSN, RDMS, a well-known diagnostic medical sonography instructor, WCUI has always had the goal of providing the highest quality sonography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nursing education.

Our Legacy

WCUI has been an ACCSC-accredited private post-secondary vocational school since 2001. We have expanded beyond our initial location in Beverly Hills, CA to maintain campuses in Ontario, CA, and Phoenix, AZ, as well as our new main campus in Los Angeles, CA. We currently have more than a thousand students and offer a variety of programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, Vocational Nursing, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound & Congenital Heart Disease.

The learning experience at WCUI includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience. Our team of well-known and knowledgeable faculty share one goal: helping our students develop into working healthcare professionals.

We also operate a low-cost on-site ultrasound clinic in which we serve patients without medical insurance. With more than 25 referring medical agencies and primary care physicians, this clinic allows students to participate in real patient care through various training programs.

In Memory of Dr. Neville Smith

Dr. Neville Smith

Dr. Neville Smith, Board Certified Radiologist, Co-Founder of WCUI, & Medical Director of Ultrasound Institute Medical Group (UIMG)

Dr. Smith was dedicated to enhancing quality education in the art and science of Medical Sonography, MRI and Nursing. We honor his memory and his contributions to WCUI in maintaining quality education, curriculum innovation, and an effective course of clinical rotations. Dr. Smith also created an affordable ultrasound clinic for serving the less fortunate members of the Los Angeles area. WCUI is in perpetual gratitude for having been a part of his vision which still is viable today. Although we no longer have the pleasure of having a personal relationship with him, we continue to admire the footprints he left behind as his legacy is carried on through the students and staff that knew and loved him, and all of those who have followed.
