San Marcos Campus Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Thursday, October 20, 2022, Smith Chason College, formerly Triad Education and West Coast Ultrasound Institute, celebrated the opening of a new location in San Marcos, California of our specialized ultrasound and MRI school, known as WCUI School of Medical Imaging. The campus opened with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, celebrating its entrance into the San Marcos community as new members of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony was held in the new WCUI location at the Civic View Corporate Center at 300 Rancheros Drive in San Marcos, just 30 minutes north of San Diego. The event was open to the public and began with a welcome and introduction from Smith Chason College founder and CEO, Myra Chason.
Ms. Chason introduced COO and General Counsel, Andrew High, to showcase the ways the organization is making a difference in the community by bringing over 20 years of experience educating the next sonographers and MRI technologists to the north San Diego area. The ceremony included a speech from San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones, along with representation from City of San Marcos Staff, Chamber of Commerce staff and members, first responders from the San Diego Sherriff’s San Marcos station, and members of the community. Representatives of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce then led the group in the official ribbon cutting in the brand-new ultrasound lab where our students will gain hands-on experience during their program.
“We want to thank everyone from San Marcos for the warm welcome we have received,” stated Ms. Chason. “We are delighted to bring healthcare education to the area to help the community.”
“I know you are a college, but we recognize you are also a business,” Mayor Jones remarked. “San Marcos has become known for both education and healthcare, and we are so happy to know you will only add to that distinction with the addition of your business in our community.”
The event concluded with a tour of the ultrasound lab and the various equipment Smith Chason’s WCUI sonography students will have the opportunity to learn on during their programs. Smith Chason College is thrilled to bring the specialized WCUI School of Medical Imaging school to the northern San Diego region to help educate the next generation of sonographers, echocardiographers, and MRI technologists in Southern California.
The San Marcos campus is the fourth campus to open under Smith Chason College, the third location in Southern California. The San Marcos location offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, and Academic Associate of Science Degrees in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in Magnetic Resonance Imaging through the specialized medical imaging school, WCUI School of Medical Imaging. The campus has already begun enrolling year-round with starts every Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
